Approaching the Buddha

Section Description >

This series of talks was given during the Annual Fall Seminar, 2019 in Kathmandu. Lama Tenzin Sangpo, across 7 sessions, progressively elaborates on sadhana practice—especially focusing on The Treasury of Blessings—detailing how pure motivation, correct posture, devotion, and the union of samatha and vipashyana are vital to meaningful practice. He guides students through the stages of preparing, visualizing, and stabilizing meditation, offering practical methods to overcome obstacles and emphasizing that the ultimate aim is to realize the inseparability of appearance and emptiness. In the concluding session, Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche deepens the teachings by contextualizing the urgent need for compassion and insight in today’s world, highlighting the inseparability of karuna and śūnyatā as essential for inner and outer transformation. He provides clear guidance for entering samatha of “uncontrived naturalness,” reinforcing that realization arises through a balanced path of devotion, inquiry, and sustained meditative training.
