Welcome to the Third Excellence ~ Module 3
We are ascending the ladder of the tantric vehicle and have now reached the extraordinary preliminaries. In this module we will purify more of our habitual obscurations and karmic defilements while accumulating vast goodness and deepening our understanding. Embarking on the higher tantras, we will realize the equality of good and evil, pure and impure.
The first of these extraordinary methods is called taking refuge. This is the same practice that we trained in during the First Excellence, but here it is combined with prostrations. Next, we train in developing and strengthening bodhicitta, just as we did in the Second Excellence.
The third extraordinary method is the visualization of Amoghavajra through which we purify our obscurations. The fourth special method is the mandala offering which we present to Tara, allowing us to quickly perfect the accumulations. Lastly, we train in the profound practice of guru yoga, where we supplicate Tara, receive the four empowerments, and become one with her.
In order to complete the special preliminaries, we accumulate a hundred thousand recitations of each of the five practices.
